Hello Everyone. I am Sharon and I am so glad you found my website.

Why did I decide to start this blog?

I have been a teacher for 30 years. Yes, I said 30 years. That is a long time in a career where a significant portion of new teachers quit after the first five years. During those 30 years, I have learned a lot of tips and tricks and made my share of mistakes. I credit God with giving me the strength and the resilience to make it this far because I know He was with me every step of the way.

I have coached and mentored many teachers both formally and informally. I have worked in 3 different states and at a total of 6 schools. I have taught both elementary school and middle school, grades 3-8, and all of the core subjects.

And while I still have quite a few years left until my retirement, I felt this website would be a great place for me to reach out to other teachers who might be in need of help or just an encouraging word.

Who am I?

I grew up in a small town in Florida called Live Oak. It was a great place to grow up. I had awesome teachers there and they encouraged me to apply for scholarships and to go to college.

I attended the University of Florida where I obtained a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in middle grades mathematics. Later, I went back to the University of Florida to get a Specialist Degree in administration. So, I’m a Gator through and through.

Life circumstances moved me around for awhile in Florida and North Carolina, but eventually I found my way to California. Now I live in the desert with my wonderful husband and one of our four amazing daughters. The other three are off starting their own families and careers but they visit when they can.

Currently I teach 7th mathematics and I love it. I still find myself learning new things every year.

I look forward to interacting with you on this website.
